Whitby Goth Weekend (WGW) was set up by Jo Hampshire simply to meet up with some fellow Goth pen friends. She chose Whitby as the venue for this meeting due to its Dracula connections. This first meeting ended up attracting over 200 people and today there are two events a year, one in Spring and one in late Autumn. The main events are held at the Whitby Spa Pavilion, but there is also live music at various hotels and public houses which has grown this into one of the most popular Gothic events in the world, attracting all generations from across the UK and around the world.
